small sample of my crazy quilt embroidery

About Me

I am a consumate crafter. I knit, quilt both sane and crazy, scrapbook, bead, mosaics and any other thing I can think of along the way. Someday I also hope to do real glass jewelery and stained glass but those have to wait until I have room and more time.

Before, During and Almost After

Seems like this spring has been one with lots of new beginnings. The best, of course, was the one with my father. We talked that all out in my last post. But this entry is all about the 2nd best one, my new fencing.

Now if you listen to my husband, fencing is made to either keep things in or to keep things out. This fence does neither. It just defines a space. And so he just does not get it and sure didn't think it was an idea worth spending money on. But my brother-in-law, who drew up my landscaping design and I both envisioned a beautiful space filled with flowers to have as a private sitting garden. It encloses but does not close off, a space right behind our detached garage. The nice thing about our detached garage is that it has this very nice little guest apartment built onto the back. And the entry door to the apartment is now going to be within this fenced off garden. You will eventually be able to look out the apartments sliding glass door and see nothing but flowers and the meadow beyond. Pure bliss. Still, husband does not get it. Tells me that it now looks like an old family graveyard that many houses in this part of the country have. Oh well, there are worse things!! I expect once the space is filled with blooming plants and the trellis is covered with vines, it will look a lot less like a graveyard and a whole lot more like the cottage garden that I have long wanted.

So here are some random before, during and after photos. But not really totally after, since the plants are not in at all yet. I did use some Round-Up in preparation to commence planting this next week. You see, I have been expecting this fence to be installed weeks before it actually did. So I have been buying everything I could get my hands on at the nurseries and babying them along while I was waiting for the fence to be put in. So hopefully in just a few short weeks it will look very very different out there.

And now just a few pretty shots from the garden...
