Off the Blog Wagon-Again

Our last foggy morning

I am beginning to think that I am going to be one of "those" bloggers. One who only reports the big stuff. For me, that would be when I finish a project. But as of right now, I am 95% finished with the Buttercup sweater. And I have so many other pictures to show you that I am going to go ahead and post without any FO or process pictures.

I was just reading my last post. The one where I mentioned rain, buckets of rain. Was that really such a short time ago?? Cause the rain in gone, long gone. And now the heat has settled in. In fact it is quite like Oklahoma outside. Hot, hot, hot and a bit windy. So I am having to water the garden, alot, sometimes twice a day. But we are harvesting squash, peppers and green beans right now. Well, OK, the green beans won't be for a couple more days but I have munched on a few little ones while out weeding!! Sushh, I don't want Ken to know.

The last couple of weekends we travelled over to Chattanooga for their annual music festival, called Riverbend. We snagged tickets thru DH's sister for $21.00. For that we saw Willie Nelson, Train, Montgomery Gentry, 3 Dog Night(original members) and Little Richard. During the week, when we could not be there, they also had the B-52's and Steven Curtis Chapman. I would have loved to have seen both but alas, DH had to go to work and the kitty's were home unsupervised. Willie opened the festival and OMG, the man is so past his prime. He was almost impossible to understand and he kept forgetting his lyrics. The only thing that made his show worth the time was this female songwriter/vocalist he brought up on stage. She had the world's worst boob job and not that great of a figure otherwise. And as far as singing goes, who knows, we could not hear her at all. The whole crowd was gasping at her on the stage and big screens. We made the comment that "someone pimped her ride"!! We figured she was Willie's latest eye candy cause we could not see any other good reason for her being brought up on stage.

The group Train is one I like OK on radio. Not my favorite or anything. But my goodness, they rocked the festival. They sang all their hits and then did a few covers of Led Zepplin songs. I for one, am not a huge Zepplin fan but when Train did them, I was hooked. They were worth the price of admission all by themselves. Montgomery Gentry was also great, even for those of us who are not die hard country fans. To me they were almost rock. They sure could get the crowd going.

3 Dog Night brought almost all the old group together for a reunion tour. They seemed to be able to make it work despite the fact that they are all over 60 years old now. Sure put Willie to shame. I was never a huge 3DN fan growing up but who can resist singing along with Jeremiah was a Bullfrog??

Closing night was headlined by Little Richard. He is showing his age a bit, but no where near like Willie. We did not realize til they were taking him off stage that he must have had quite a stroke and can not move his legs at all. They darkened the stage and had 2 big guys pick him up and put him in his wheelchair and take him off with no encore at all. But then we had the fireworks that Riverbend is famous for. They were just awesome and we had seats front and center overlooking the Tennessee River so we saw them in all their glory. Next year is the 30th anniversary of Riverbend and we are already looking forward to finding out who their headliners will be. It was also nice to have 2 weekend visits with DH's sister and husband. We ate, drank and slept to exces, loving every minute of it.

Some time ago I promised pics of the antique dresser we bought for the girls room. So here they finally are. Never mind that I also promised pics of the new entertainment center and couch in the living room. Taking pics of those would mean having to tidy them up and that ain't gonna happen any time soon.

The buttercup sweater should be finished next time out. If it weren't for a very persistent case of right arm tendonitis, I would have already been wearing this peice. The only thing left to finish is about 10 rows around each sleeve. I may have at least one of those done today. I have tried on the body since finishing it and I love the way this fits. It is one really nice pattern, especially since it was free and the yarn was a good deal.

The girls will be arriving on June 29th. We talked to them this last weekend on Maddie's birthday. They sound very excited to be coming and are looking forward to a nice long visit with us. Katie is bringing her knitting to be retaught. The fact that she asked that warmed a grandma's heart.
